NEM 3.0 means that your surplus energy from your solar power system will receive lower compensation rates from the electric company.
The new NEM 3.0 tariff will significantly reduce net metering compensation rates for new California solar customers (by about 75 percent - the surplus energy credit rates go from an average of 24¢ down to 8¢/kWh on average) – however, new solar customers still have until April 13, 2023, to submit a completed interconnection application and lock in NEM 2.0 rates for 20 years.
